Power of Hope's Hip Hop Hope Camp:
Hip Hop Hope Project uses hip hop music and culture to draw Vancouver and Lower Mainland youth into a creative process that builds self-confidence, cross-cultural understanding, and enables them to take positive action in their schools and communities. Creativity Camp will see 50-60 youth ages 14 to 18 join 25-30 adult artists and volunteers participate in a week-long program that develops positive values, critical thinking and leadership skills. The Project will also build the capacity of other youth-serving agencies by providing training to 25-30 youth workers and adult allies.
VSB's Youth to Youth Marimba:
The Youth to Youth Marimba Program is an expansion of the current world music program by making marimba participation accessible to elementary school students in East Vancouver. The program will allow high-school students to mentor elementary school students through youth-led after-school programs.
La Boussole's Illustrated Journeys:
Illustrated Journey Youth Project will engage immigrant and refugee youth in an arts-based storymaking partnership between youth and immigrant service organizations, comic book artists, UBC School of Social Work. The eight month program will provide young people an accessible means to reflect, express and share their stories of the transition to life in Canada, reduce social isolation and marginalization, and enhance the broader public's awareness of issues facing newcomer youth.
Vancouver AIDS Society's Project Stitch:
Project Stitch engages youth across the Lower Mainland in activities that build awareness and understanding of sexual health and HIV/AIDS in local and global contexts. Using arts and technology as primary basis for collaborative work, the culmination of Project Stitch is a December 1, 2007 World AIDS Day event.
