Kitchener and Waterloo YAC hosts YIP guests from near and far...
On May 27th Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation's Youth Advisory Council organized a meeting to exchange information and ideas about Youth in Philanthropy and explore how YACs can connect both locally and beyond.
Their guests included members of Hamilton Community Foundation's YAC, Community Foundations of Canada's YIP consultant, and three visitors from the Penza Community Foundation in Russia.
Participants learned about Russia's YACs, which are called YouthBanks, and how the Penza YouthBank was started. They also heard about the growth of youth philanthropy in other parts of the world, as well as YIP activities and resources in Canada.
Closer to home, the Kitchener and Waterloo and Hamilton YACs discussed the possibility of more regional learning opportunities, and will be planning and plotting more ways to bring YACs together again in the near future!
