Voluncations, Internships, International Adventures....
Many YACers are seeking international volunteer experiences as part of their summer vacations, or for a gap year. Here are a few sites with helpful information to get you started:
Youth Zone is the Canadian International Development Agency's website for young people interested in international development. It includes articles about current development topics, links to youth organizations, stories by young people, and information about internships and other programs for Canadian youth. http://www.acdi-cida.gc.ca/cidaweb/acdicida.nsf/En/JUD-12882713-HSK
Transitions Abroad is an organization and web directory of youth volunteer programs. Their webpage also includes some worthwhile articles written about volunteering abroad by teenagers, and also has a fairly comprehensive listing of programs available for high school aged students: http://www.transitionsabroad.com/listings/study/teen/teen_volunteer_organizations.shtml
International Volunteer Programs Association (IPVA) is another useful website. It includes a short description of their 12 member international volunteer organizations that haveprograms for participants of all ages: http://www.volunteerinternational.org/.
