Winnipeg Foundation hosts annual YiP conference
Over 300 Youth in Philanthropy participants attended The Winnipeg Foundation’s annual Youth in Philanthropy conference, held on October 23. YiPpers participated in and attended sessions on a wide range of topics, including Life After YiP, Volunteering, What to do when you’re not making grants, and YiP from the grantee perspective. Speakers included community members, current YiPpers and YiP alumni.
The half-day event also included sessions on youth, poverty and social justice, health care, community art programming, Winnipeg’s Aboriginal community, and the environment. The conference closed with keynote speakers from Many Voices, One World, a storytelling program that focuses on newcomer and refugee experiences.
The conference was an opportunity for YiPpers to learn more about the program and their community, as well as to meet YiP members from other schools.
